The Aberdeen City and Shire Film Office provides advice on all aspects of funding for film and television productions shot in the Northeast of Scotland, as well as in-kind support to those filmmakers and companies who are resident in the area.
Creative Scotland provides support for emerging and established film and television talent, including help with development, production, and commercial exploitation of feature films, feature-length documentaries, drama series, and animation. The UK Government provides major tax relief to filmmakers, subject to a cultural test. This is administered by the British Film Institute (BFI) on behalf of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). To find out more, please visit BFI or HM Revenue and Customs
The BFI has also taken over many functions, including funding support, that were formerly provided by the UK Film Council (abolished in 2011). They are especially interested in funding ‘documentary films with theatrical potential’ http://www.bfi.org.uk/film-industry/documentary-production-funding.
